The Schrader valve is the most widespread among mountain bikes. It is also used for motor vehicles, which is why it is also called "Auto valve". When inserting the pump head or the pressure gauge into the valve, a pin is pressed down which opens the valve itself, allowing air to enter and the tire pressure to be measured. Schrader valve hand pumps therefore require a non-return valve in the pump head. An advantage of the Schrader valve is the possibility of inflating the wheel at any service station without the use of adapters.
